The wish: beautiful without saying it out loud
A couple in 's-Gravenzande who knew exactly what they did not want: a kitchen that demands attention. They did want to look at it for a moment every morning. A kitchen that brings calm to the room, but on closer inspection is full of details.
The design: black as a calm surface
The fronts are black and handleless, so together they form one calm surface. On top a ceramic worktop, warm in colour, with a golden vein running through the whole kitchen as the only drawing in the room. A copper tap catches the morning light, a round mirror reflects the space back, and at the island a strip of walnut as a bar, where the coffee stands and the day begins.
Materials and details
Ceramic is heat resistant, scratch resistant and low maintenance, and in this colour scheme it is the warm counterpart to the black. The copper tap and the walnut bar are the two places where the material is allowed to speak. The handleless fronts open with a light push, so the lines stay clean.
The result
A kitchen in 's-Gravenzande that does exactly what the owners asked: to be beautiful without saying it out loud. Luxury that does not talk.
